Plumtree Police Station $970k Gold Heist Suspect On The Run

A man who is part of the 9 people suspected to be behind the theft of gold close to 1 million at Plumtree Police Station failed to appear in court which has fueled suspicions that he might have skipped the border into one of the country’s neighbouring countries, The Chronicle reports.

A warrant of arrest has been issued for Jefat Chaganda after he failed to appear before Bulawayo High Court judge Justice Thompson Mabhikwa earlier this week.

According to the publication Changanda is accused together with:

Plumtree regional magistrate Timeon Tavengwa Makunde, Stanley Chinyanganya who is the area public prosecutor, prominent lawyer Admire Rubaya and six others who include Dingumuzi Ncube, Tyson Ruvando, Godfrey Makuvadze, Ladislous Tamboonei and Detective Assistant Inspector Ladislous Tinacho, who is in charge of the ZRP Minerals and Border Control, are facing theft charges or alternatively obstructing the course of justice.

The gold was stolen out of Plumtree Police Station Armoury on July 7, 2018.
