Manicaland Minister of State for Provincial Affairs, Dr Ellen Gwaradzimba has applauded the President Mnangagwa led administration for showing “true leadership” after the government mobilised and distributed COVID-19 equipment to Manicaland residents.
Gwaradzimba’s remarks resonated with those of the Minister of Defense and War Veterans Affairs, and Vice-Chairperson of the Covid-19 National Taskforce, Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri who said the support is testimony that government continues to give priority to the health of its citizens.
Speaking at the distribution of the aid in Mutasa District this Saturday, Gwaradzimba said:
We thank the President and the National Chair for mobilising sanitizers, face masks and food in the face of Covid-19. Surely this is evidence of quality leadership.
This comes amid allegations that the ruling ZANU PF is using aid to manipulate the vulnerable and desperate electorate.
Speaking at the event, Muchinguri-Kashiri reminded the people that the war against coronavirus is still on hence the need to comply with precautionary measures and regulations announced by Government and health officials.
Zimbabwe, as of 13 June 2020, had 356 confirmed coronavirus cases, including 54 recoveries and four (4) deaths. The number of infections in the country has of late been increasing exponentially and most of the newest cases are returnees mainly from neighbouring South Africa.
