South Africans participating in the COVID-19 vaccine trials are expected to be vaccinated on this week.
There is currently no approved vaccine therefore the trials are aimed at looking at how people respond to a new intervention and what side effects might occur.
Zimbabwe also agreed to participate in the ongoing clinical trial for candidate coronavirus vaccines which have so far been tested in China and Europe, the outcome is not known.
There have been conspiracy theories previously which discouraged Africans from participating in the trials saying the vaccines are meant to destroy the African people.
