A Bulawayo self-proclaimed healer allegedly r_ped a teenager during a “healing ritual” at his home in Mzilikazi suburb.
Soul Ndonga (30) allegedly r_ped the victim (18) on June 27 at around 2 pm, when the complainant went to his home in the company of her two cousins for a prayer session.
Prosecutor Leonard Chile told Bulawayo magistrate Tinashe Tashaya on Wednesday that Ndonga, who was appearing in court facing rape charges, told the trio that he wanted to pray for them separately when they visited his “healing room”. Said Chile:
After the accused person had finished praying for the complainant’s cousins, he ordered the two women to leave the room so that he could pray for the complainant.
The accused prayed for the victim and told her that she was being tormented by evil spirits which were affecting her love relationship.
The accused person ordered the complainant to sit on the bed before he lifted her skirt and rubbed some strange substance on her private parts and stomach.
Ndonga then went on to r_pe the teenager once and ordered her not to tell anyone about what had transpired.
The complainant, however, informed her two cousins and the matter was reported to the police leading to Ndonga’s arrest.
Magistrate Tashaya remanded Ndonga in custody to August 6 pending trial at the regional court.
