URL In Partial Shutdown For Coronavirus-induced Deep Cleaning

United Refineries Limited (URL) has shut down some of its sections to allow the Bulawayo City Council (BCC) deep clean the entire factory according to WHO and Ministry of Health regulations.

In a statement on Friday, URL indicated that one of its employees has tested positive for coronavirus while another worker came into contact with a family member who is coronavirus positive. The statement read:

We would like to inform the public that with immediate effect, we are shutting down a few sections of the company and inviting Bulawayo City Council to deep clean our entire factory according to WHO and Ministry of Health regulations.

This measure comes after one of our colleagues tested positive for COVID-19 and another colleague came into contact with a family member who is COVID-19 positive.

We will be assisting them with getting tested and any other necessary measures. The company has already started taking steps to ensure those who came into contact with both colleagues are tested and isolate for the stipulated time frame.

Our company leadership and brands are at the forefront in the fight against COVID-19 and we will continue to stand firm together with the nation in this fight.

As always, the health, safety and wellbeing of the public and our employees is our No. 1 priority. We encourage the public to continue wearing masks, washing and sanitizing hands regularly and practice social distancing of at least 1.5metres.
