"SB Moyo Tipped To Succeed Mnangagwa," - Jonathan Moyo

Exiled former minister of Higher and Tertiary Education, Professor Jonathan Moyo has claimed that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sibusiso Moyo is planning to succeed president Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Moyo is allegedly working with disgruntled and ousted ZANU PF members to push his agenda. Speaking at the Crisis in Zimbabwe’s Dialogue Series dubbed; “Zimbabwe’s prospects: transition, imperatives and stability” zoom discussion moderated by broadcaster Violet Gonda, Moyo claimed called were increasing for the former army boss to replace Mnangagwa. He said:

It’s being whispered widely, and the whispers are getting louder, that SB has emerged as a center of power with his own ambitions and that he now fancies his chances.

He’s said to command some considerable influence in the defence forces, having served as ZDF (Zimbabwe Defence Forces) de facto prime minister, in the (Constantino) Chiwenga years, when he effectively ran the army’s business enterprises and interests.

While SB does not have a social base in Zanu PF, he’s said to be linked to or to be behind some vocal current and former Zanu PF activists, as well as some clergy and businessmen, including journalists.

He speaks amid reports that the ruling party is rocked by factionalism with president Emmerson Mnangagwa and his deputy, Constantino Chiwenga believed to be leading the main factions.

He also speaks after the Minister of Home Affairs, Kazembe Kazembe has dismissed rumours saying there was a coup plot against Mnangagwa.
