Russia To Deliver Humanitarian Aid To Zimbabwe - REPORT

Russia is set to deliver humanitarian aid to Zimbabwe, the Central African Republic (CAR), and Congo Brazaville.

According to Tass, an aircraft of the Russian Emergencies Ministry will deliver the humanitarian aid consisting of sanitizers and personal protective equipment to the three Africa countries. The statement says:

On September 5, an Ilyushin IL-76 aircraft of the Russian Emergencies Ministry is scheduled to deliver personal protective equipment, medical items and sanitizers as humanitarian aid. Overall, it is about 25 tonnes.

The humanitarian aid will be delivered in accordance with the Russian government’s resolution.

Zimbabwe’s Defence minister Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri recently told parliamentarians that the country had flattened the coronavirus curve, as there was now an “equilibrium between increases in infections and increases in the recoveries”.

As of Thursday, the country had recorded 6 678 positive cases, 206 deaths and 5 263 recoveries. The recovery rate constitutes about 79 per cent of the confirmed infections.
