Domestic And International Flights To Resume

Zimbabwe has announced that domestic and international flights will resume on 10 September and 1 October, respectively following months of coronavirus-induced suspension.

Addressing journalists during Tuesday night’s post-Cabinet briefing, Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa said standard operating procedures had been put in place for the safe reopening of airports. Mutsvangwa said:

The national guidelines for aviation safety and security have been developed by the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe to ensure the safety of both the travellers and airport staff.

These are additional to the temperature testing, social distancing, sanitisation, and mandatory wearing of masks.

All travellers will be required to have a PCR COVID-19 clearance certificate issued by a recognised facility within 48 hours from the date of departure, in line with WHO guidelines.

The government recently announced that returning residents with 48-hour negative COVID-19 certificate can proceed to their homes and self-quarantine there.

Zambia, Nigeria and Tanzania are among the countries that have reopened their countries to international travellers.
