ZANU PF Chief Whip in Parliament Pupurai Togarepi this Thursday denied allegations that Ms Henrietta Rushwaya Zimbabwe Miners Federation President (ZMF) was president Emmerson Mnangagwa’s niece.
This comes after reports suggesting that Rushwaya who was this week arrested for intending to smuggle six (6) kgs of gold was related to the first family.
Speaking in the National Assembly on Thursday, Togarepi vehemently denied the allegations made in the House of Lords in the United Kingdom on Tuesday. He fumed:
Why is Lord Peter Hain lying, who lied to him that Henrietta Rushwaya is President Mnangagwa’s niece? Is there anything honourable in parroting and reproducing falsehoods from social media platforms in the so-called House of Lords, perhaps House of Lies?
In his ignorance, Hain insinuates that what Henrietta Rushwaya did had the blessings of the President. What a load of rubbish from a supposed Lord.
Togarepi speaks after the British House of Lords this week discussed Rushwaya’s case and befitting measures that can be put in place to force the Mnangagwa administration to uphold good governance.
Lord Peter Hain suggested that South Africa’s political and economic supremacy could be used to influence reforms in neighbouring Zimbabwe.
