Fuel retailer Trek has notified its customers that the company will no longer accept payment in “RTGS Nostro”, a quasi-currency that carries no parity value with the United States dollar. In a notice on Thursday, the company said:
We have found ourselves in an unfortunate situation whereby we are receiving Nostro funds through the RTGS system that do not carry a USD Value. This means that we cannot use these funds to procure fuel.
With immediate effect please may all your payments be made to:

Swift: SBICZWHXIf you pay to any other bank, we will need a minimum period of 48 hours to confirm that the transfer carries value, before we credit your account.
If it is deemed to not carry value, we will return the funds to you. If you choose to pay our Ecobank account you can speed the verification process up by asking your bank to ensure they credit the Ecobank Nostro accounts showing that it carries value.
Please be advised that we cannot accept any RTGS Nostro transfers.
