ED Threatens His ZANU PF Rivals With Expulsion

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has warned party leaders who were recently elected in the ZANU PF District Coordinating Committee (DCC) elections that they will be expelled from the if they plot against him.

ZANU PF dissolved the DCCs a few years ago at the height of factional battles pitting the Gamatox, Team Lacoste and Generation 40 (G40) factions.

The factions threatened to tear apart the former revolutionary party as they strived to push their preferred candidates to choose the successor to the then ZANU PF leader, the late Robert Mugabe.

Addressing hundreds of people, including ZANU PF supporters at Jenya Secondary School in Chivi North on Wednesday, President Mnangagwa said:

My message to those who were elected into the DCCs is that the party (Zanu PF) has a constitution and that constitution must be followed.

Those who will try to burn midnight candles trying to make plots and sub-plots will be suspended and expelled from the party.

There is no room for such leaders in Zanu PF. We do not countenance members who take issues outside the party, there are channels and procedures to be followed when members want redress.

The recent ZANU PF DCC elections were marred by allegations of massive voter fraud and threats of violence, with thousands of bona fide party members failing to cast their ballots due to various reasons.
