The bail hearing of renowned journalist Hopewell Chin’ono has been postponed to Thursday because the state did not file a response to Chin’ono’s bail appeal.
This was communicated by Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights which stated that:
It was false start to the hearing of @daddyhope‘s bail appeal after the matter was rolled over to Thursday as law officers from the NPA had not filed a response to his bail appeal & the “Court” had not acquainted itself with the record of proceedings from Magistrates Court.
Chin’ono was arrested last week for allegedly tweeting falsehoods and he was denied bail by Magistrate Lazini Ncube. He appealed Magistrate Ncube’s decision and the application was supposed to be heard by Justice Foroma today before it was rolled over to tomorrow.
Chin’ono was arrested 3 times in the last six months. His arrests started after he exposed the Draxgate COVID-19 scandal that eventually led to the Minister Of Health Obidiah Moyo losing his job.
