Weather Forecast: Heavy Downpours, Thunderstorms

The Meteorological Services (MET) Department’s weather forecast predicts heavy downpours and thunderstorms in some parts of the country starting this Tuesday. Below is the MET’s statement.

ZIMBABWE EVENING WEATHER REPORT AND FORECAST ISSUED AT 1600 HRS ON MONDAY 25 JANUARY 2021 VALID UNTIL WEDNESDAY 27 JANUARY 2021

Numerous thunderstorms occurred yesterday and the following were some of the higher rainfalls measured at our Meteorological Stations:

Tarisa Park (Ruwa) 47mm,
Victoria Falls 37mm, Beitbridge. 32mm, Mutoko 22mm Bindura University 21mm.

Meantime the atmosphere remains moist and unstable therefore;

FORECAST FOR TOMORROW TUESDAY 26 JANUARY 2021:

We are expecting cloudy and warm conditions in all areas with occasional rain and outbreaks of thunderstorms during the day. Some of these storms may bring localized heavy downpours especially along the central watershed, and the Zambezi Valley.

Damaging winds may also be associated with these storms.

WEATHER FORECAST FOR WEDNESDAY 27 JANUARY 2021

It should be mostly cloudy across the country, with scattered thunderstorms and rain.

Localized heavy downpours are expected in Manicaland, and Mashonaland east province.
