The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has warned citizens not to trust strangers with their valuables after a woman was recently robbed of cash, a car and a cellphone in Chinhoyi.
According to national police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the woman was robbed of US$2 030, a Toyota Camry vehicle (AEN 1228) and a Tecno cell-phone by four unknown men on Tuesday.
The robbery victim wanted the men, who were seated in a Toyota Fortuner vehicle (ABV 6204) at a local Service Station, to deliver her parcel to an unnamed destination.
The driver of the vehicle then invited the victim to enter the vehicle before three suspects who were seated in the vehicle pulled out a gun on her and robbed her of her valuables. Said Asst Comm Nyathi:
The ZRP warns members of the public against complacency on security matters and trusting strangers.
The warning follows a robbery case in Chinhoyi on 16/03/21 at about 0700 hrs, where a woman was robbed of US$2 030, Toyota Camry vehicle (AEN 1228) and a Tecno cell-phone by unknown four men in a Toyota Fortuner vehicle (ABV 6204) at a local Service Station.
The victim attempted to send a parcel with the driver and was told to enter the vehicle before three suspects who were seated in the vehicle, brandished an unidentified pistol and robbed her.
In another development, police on Tuesday arrested Richmore Mikili (20) for impersonating a police officer in Graniteside.
Miliki was clad in police uniform and was demanding bribes from Mushikashika vehicles.
Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for Miliki’s accomplice who vanished from the scene.
