SADC To Meet Next Week Over Mozambique Conflict

The Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) Troika will be in the coming week to discuss the conflict in Mozambique’s Cabo Delgado region.

The meeting, eNCA reports, has been called by Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi who is the Chairperson of the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security. SADC has been criticised for its procrastination in intervening in the conflict in Mozambique even when hundreds have been reportedly killed while thousands have been displaced.

The television station further reports that South Africa is willing to assist in the development of a solution that will secure peace in Mozambique.

The South Africa National Defence Force (SANDF) sent troops to repatriate South Africans following attacks in Palma.

South Africa’s Defence Ministry gave an update on over 50 South Africans who were reported missing. The country’s Defence Ministry said the missing South Africans have all been accounted for.
