The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has released the names of three people who were killed in a road traffic accident that occurred on Monday at the 237km peg along Harare-Mutare road.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said three people died on the spot while nine others were injured when a motorist driving a Toyota Hiace vehicle towards Harare, with 12 passengers on board, lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle, which was reportedly speeding, veered off the road, overturned several times before landing on its roof.
The deceased were identified as Enerita Jongwe (25) of Mutudza Village Chief Marange, Mutare; Hazvinei Mawadzi (31) of Mutudza Village Chief Marange, Mutare; and Blessing Mutudza (3) of Madzengwa Village, Chief Marange, Mutare.
Asst Comm Nyathi said the injured were taken to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital where they are receiving treatment while bodies of the deceased are at the same institution awaiting post mortem.
