Zuma’s Daughter, Duduzile, Under Investigation For "Inciting Violence"

Former South African president Jacob Zuma’s daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambdula, is among about a dozen suspects police will be investigating for inciting riots online, the country’s Police Minister Bheki Cele said.

Duduzile is accused of posting a stream of inflammatory content relating to the widespread unrest in South Africa since her father was jailed last week.

During a media briefing on Tuesday, Cele explained that “no-one is above the law”, and that Duduzile was one of the people being probed by the South African Police Service (SAPS). Said Cele:

We’re trying to trace inflammatory posts fueling violence on social media, and that means we are now looking at 10 to 12 people including Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla.

When you break the law, it doesn’t matter who you are. These are all people who are inciting violence on social media, and they will not be spared.

If found guilty of any wrongdoing, a criminal charge can be filed against Zuma’s daughter – and she could even end up following her father into a prison cell, pending her arrest.

KwaZulu-Natal – Zuma’s home province – and Gauteng, have both been gripped by protest, with the rioters also getting involved in the looting of stores.

Hundreds of businesses have been ransacked since the weekend, with poverty-stricken citizens using this opportunity to stock up on certain goods.
