Two people died while two others were injured near Simona farm along the Bindura-Glendale road when two trucks collided head-on on Saturday.
When ZBC News arrived at the accident scene, the bodies of the deceased were still trapped inside the mangled remains while groceries from one of the trucks were strewn along the road.
Witnesses believe the accident was caused by poor visibility as there was a veld fire on both sides of the road. A witness said:
When I passed there earlier, I even mentioned this fire is dangerous and will cause accidents because of poor visibility then the worst happened and these trucks collided.
Another witness said:
It’s sad I knew this guy he was a businessman and we were in Harare together earlier in the afternoon and we headed our separate ways, then I got here to find this tragedy. It’s really sad.
Mashonaland Central Acting Police Spokesperson Assistant Inspector Naison Dhliwayo said police are still conducting investigations.
