Woman And Her Two Children Found Dead In Marange Dam

Police in Marange, Manicaland province, have recovered the bodies of a 33-year-old woman and her two minor children from a local dam, amid fears she could have committed suicide following a domestic dispute with her polygamous husband.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) posted on Twitter this Thursday saying the woman had a misunderstanding with her husband over infidelity two days before the discovery of the lifeless bodies. Pindula News presents the police statement.

The ZRP is investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman (33) and her two minor children (aged one week and three years) at Mayedzengwa Village, Marange on 17/11/21.

The woman who was in a polygamous relationship had a misunderstanding with her husband over infidelity on 15/11/21. The three bodies were found floating in a local dam. Investigations are in progress.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident saying investigations into the matter are underway. He told NewsDay:

We are investigating a case were a Marange woman Elizabeth Mukachiki aged (33) and her two children Kelvin Bonyongwa aged (3) and Costin Bonyongwa, a young brother to Kelvin were found dead in a dam after she had gone missing.

Investigations show that the now deceased had a domestic dispute with her polygamous husband.

He said the bodies were discovered on Wednesday in a dam located in Mayedzengwa village, under Chief Marange.
