President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Saturday addressed thousands of ZANU PF supporters at Mbizo Stadium, Kwekwe, while the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) blocked Citizens Coalition for Change leader Nelson Chamisa from addressing his own supporters in Gokwe, 143 kilometres from Kwekwe.
Earlier on Saturday, ZRP lawyers lied at the Harare High Court that the CCC Gokwe rally had not been banned, only for riot police officers to use tear smoke and water cannon to disperse CCC supporters who had gathered at Gokwe Centre to be addressed by Chamisa.
Meanwhile, the ZANU PF rally in Kwekwe went ahead unmolested by ZRP with former Kwekwe Central MP, Blessing Chebundo (MDC), among the defectors from opposition parties paraded at the rally.
