A 20-year-old man from Gwanda appeared in court after he allegedly sodomised a 36-year-old man on 21 May in the mining town.
Phathisani Nyathi appeared before magistrate Mr Tawanda Muchemwa, at Gwanda Magistrates Court last Monday facing sodomy charges.
The State alleges that Nyathi led his alleged victim to the bush near Jahunda Primary School where he threatened him with an empty beer bottle and ordered him to remove his trousers.
Prosecutor, Mr Mncedisi Dube, said Nyathi then forced his victim to lie down and sodomised him.
The Sunday News reports that the victim later managed to escape and went to file a report leading to the arrest of Nyathi.
Nyathi was also found in possession of his victim’s phone and a medical report was produced in court as an exhibit.
The accused was remanded in custody to 30 May.
