South Africa: Mass Shooting In Eastern Cape Leaves 7 Dead

Seven people died on Wednesday night following a mass shooting in Eastern Cape, South Africa.

It is alleged that three armed men allegedly forced their way into a homestead and opened fire on Wednesday night, eNCA News reported.

Seven people were shot in the process six of which died on the scene, and the 7th succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

Police attended the scene of another mass shooting on Thursday in Mthatha, in the Eastern Cape. 

Cases of mass shootings are common in South Africa and Eastern Cape in particular.

On 5 November, there was another mass shooting in the Eastern Cape and six people were shot dead in a house in New Brighton. A three-year-old child was the sole survivor, according to Eastern Cape police spokesperson, Colonel Priscilla Naidu.

On 13 October, eight people were shot dead and two others injured in two separate shootings in Kwanobuhle, in the Eastern Cape.

Police said six unidentified men were shot multiple times in the first incident in Mabi Street at around 11:45. 

Five succumbed to injuries, while one was rushed to the hospital.
