South African retail and wholesale giant, Spar Group have closed its distribution centre in Zimbabwe, due to the challenging economic conditions. From now onwards, they will be supplying independent Zimbabwean stores from the South African side.
Spar Group Chief Executive Officer Graham O’Connor told Reuters that:
The economy was just too tough… payment issues, infrastructure issues, so it was better that we exited.
