President Emmerson Mnangagwa has said that for Zimbabwe to lure investment, the country needs to create a conducive environment.
He observed that the country was facing competition over global capital and investors from other developing countries hence the need to be more appealing.
Speaking during a discussion at the ongoing Global Business Forum on Africa that opened in Dubai on Monday, Mnangagwa said:
As I said, the current foreign policy of my country is to re-engage. But we don’t expect that global capital will just come because we are just asking it to come. We must create an environment where it (investment) feels safe and comfortable.
Since his ascendancy to power in 2017, the president has been pushing to engage and re-engage the international community saying that two decades of isolation robbed Zimbabwe a chance to grow.
Some economies are demanding that Zimbabwe implements political and economic reforms as a prerequisite for engagement with the troubled Southern African state endowed with vast natural resources.
