Iraqi Parliament has resolved to have foreign troops expelled from that country as tensions mount between the USA and Iran following the death of Iranian Quds commander, Qassem Soliemani who was killed in a USA airstrike on Friday.
The resolution read:
The government commits to revoke its request for assistance from the international coalition fighting Islamic State due to the end of military operations in Iraq and the achievement of victory.
The Iraqi government must work to end the presence of any foreign troops on Iraqi soil and prohibit them from using its land, airspace or water for any reason.
It is however of much vitality to note that Parliament resolutions, unlike laws, are non-binding and the move would require new legislation to cancel the existing agreement between Iraqi and the USA.
Iraqi is under immense pressure to oust American troops considering that the presence of Americans means Iraqi is a battlefield as Iran might see it economic to attack American bases in Iraq that to go to American soil.
Iraqi would lose citizens and infrastructure if the tensions escalate to war.
