Mutodi Speaks On ED's 'Eat Vegetables' Remarks

Deputy Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Energy Mutodi said President Emmerson Mnangagwa does not have to apologise to Zimbabweans for the “jokes” he made in Kuwadzana last week.

Speaking to NewsDay on Monday, Mutodi asserted that it was MDC leader Nelson Chamisa who needed to apologise for rejecting the 2018 election results among other “misdemeanours”. Said Mutodi:

The President is first and foremost a citizen who can communicate anything with fellow citizens, including cracking jokes with Zimbabweans.

Chamisa is the one with a lot to apologise to Zimbabweans for calling for sanctions, disputing election results where he was clearly defeated and even giving false hope to his supporters.

During the monthly, largely ceremonial national clean-up campaign held in Kuwadzana on Friday last week, Mnangagwa said he would send troops against the residents if it was proved that they were responsible for the ongoing meteorological drought.

He also told residents to eat vegetables after they had asked him to do something about the escalating price of meat.
