VP Chiwenga In Bid To Save Face After Marry Expose'

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has seemingly chickened out of a protracted war of words with her estranged wife Marry Chiwenga (nee Mubaiwa) and has opted for an out of court settlement in their ongoing divorce proceedings.

Marry has characterised Chiwenga as captured by a fuel mogul Kuda Tagwirei, a drug addict, a paranoid individual too sickly to look after their children and having an unbridled ambition to take over the presidency from President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

On Friday Marry was at the High Court in Justice Christopher Dube-Banda’s chambers accompanied by her lawyer Taona Nyamakura where they met Chiwenga’s lawyers Wellington Pasipanodya and Advocate Lewis Uriri.

Following the deferment of the hearing of the matter to next week Tuesday, Nyamakura said:

The matter has been deferred to Tuesday, January 21 for possible argument or confirmation of settlement. We exchanged positions as legal practitioners acting for both sides in the matter and the tentative position is that this is a matter that we both agreed should be settled and not argued.

Chiwenga filed for divorce following Marry’s arrest in December on allegations of attempted murder, money laundering and fraud.

The divorce proceedings have revealed that the couple acquired vast wealth during the subsistence of their customary marriage.
