"I Serve At The Pleasure Of The President," Ousted ZANU PF Youth League Boss Speaks

The former secretary of the ZANU PF Youth League, Pupurai Togarepi told Zim Morning Post that he was accepting the Politburo’s decision to strip him of his post.

In an interview with Zim Morning Post, Togarepi said that he a cadre of the Party and therefore respects the decision of the Party. He said:

I am a steward of the Party and I serve at the pleasure of the President (Emmerson Mnangagwa) who appointed me to that position.

The Party is supreme and I am therefore guided accordingly. I will continue to serve my Party with the commitment and unquestionable loyalty expected of every cadre of the Revolutionary Party

Togarepi was together with Lewis Matutu then deputy secretary and Godfrey Tsenengamu, then Youth Political Commissar stripped of their party posts after they claimed that businessman and Sakunda Holdings boss, Kuda Tagwireyi in connivance with some senior ZANU PF officials were engaging in underhand dealings which were constraining economic growth in the country.

The Politburo also suspended Matutu and Tsenengamu for defiance of party protocol recommending that they undergo rigorous training at Chitepo ideological college.
