Kidnapper Exposed After Her 'Cousin' Alerts The Baby's Mother

A woman from Bulawayo’s Pumula suburb was arrested last week for allegedly kidnapping a five-week-old twin baby girl.

The unnamed woman was arrested after her friend called the baby’s mother informing her of the address of the suspect.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Chief Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident which happened last Wednesday. He said:

At the time the accused person arrived at the complainant’s house, the complainant was about to leave heading to town. The accused person said she was also going to town and insisted on helping the complainant carry one of her twin babies who is five weeks old and she was given one of the twins.

When they arrived in town at Tredgold Buildings, the accused told the mother of the twins that she had no bus fare and needed to rush to her friend nearby to get the money.

She went with the baby and never returned, forcing the complainant to report the matter to the police.

After the accused’s friend called the complainant later in the day, advising her where the accused resided, she went to Pumula Police Station and was escorted by the police to the house.

The baby girl was rescued unharmed and the accused woman arrested.
