Police in Manicaland Province has confirmed the arrest of a 33-year-old man who allegedly chopped off his friend’s hand with a machete after a misunderstanding over a sim card on Sunday.
Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa revealed that Boniface Ziaphela (34) lost his arm after it was cut off by Moffat Sithole with a machete during a beer drink at D` Plaza Tararo farm. Said Ins. Kakohwa:
Sithole asked Ziaphela to use his phone to purchase beer after his had turned off due to power.
After buying beer, Sithole returned Ziaphela`s phone but he later came back claiming that he had forgotten his sim card.
Ziaphela denied that he was in possession of the said sim card and the two exchanged words and Sithole stormed out of the bar.
Sithole reportedly returned to the bar armed with a machete and in the company of Lukestone Sithole, Muneru and Dingiswayo.
They dragged Ziaphela out of the bar and started assaulting him. Sithole hit Ziaphela on his right hand with a machete, completely removing his arm before the gang melted into the darkness.
