A sitting ZANU PF councillor in Bindura was reportedly assaulted by a Bindura University of Science Education (BUSE) student during a campaign rally on 17 March this year.
According to the Zimbabwe Peace Project (ZPP), Bindura North Ward 12 Councillor, Wendile Machisi was assaulted by one Webester, who accused him of bedding his wife.
During the assault, Machisi did not retaliate but remained calm for fear he will be disqualified ahead of the ZANU PF primary elections. <a href="https://twitter.com/zppINFO/status/1639542607679303680">ZPP said:</a>

On 17 March, in Bindura North Ward 12, ZANU PF sitting councillor Wendile Machisi was assaulted by a Bindura University student identified as Webester during a campaign rally at the Progress Shopping Centre bus terminus.
The incident happened around 5 PM when Machisi was addressing residents ahead of the ruling party primary elections.
Machisi was slapped in the face by Webester who accused him of having an affair with his wife.
Machisi did not fight back but only warned his bodyguards to remain calm in fear of being disqualified.

This comes after ZANU PF Harare Provincial Commissar <a href="https://zero.pindula.co.zw/zanu-pf-official-barred-from-primaries-for-assaulting-zec-officials/">Kudakwashe Damson was barred from participating in the upcoming primary elections</a> for allegedly assaulting Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) officials who were on duty conducting voter education in Epworth recently.
ZANU PF is holding primary elections today, Saturday 25 March to select candidates for the party in the upcoming general elections.
ZANU PF Secretary for the Commissariat Mike Bimha on Friday said primary elections will be held in all provinces today except Masvingo and Midlands where they will conducted on Sunday, 26 March.

ZANU PF Councillor Assaulted During Campaign Rally

ZANU PF has cancelled the suspension and prohibition on Mashonaland West provincial youth league chairman, Tapiwa Masenda, <a href="https://www.herald.co.zw/masendas-suspension-uplifted/">reported The Herald</a>.
ZANU PF national secretary for security Lovemore Matuke is expected to deploy a team to conduct investigations.
Masenda was suspended by the provincial executive committee (PEC) together with the provincial secretary for administration, Rudo Munyonga recently following several allegations of misconduct levelled against him.
He was barred from calling, officiating and addressing any meetings and entering party offices.
The cancellation of Masenda’s suspension will see him continue conducting his duties until the outcome of the investigations.
According to <a href="https://www.newzimbabwe.com/zanu-pf-mash-west-youth-boss-in-soup-beating-up-on-chinese-miner/">a report by NewZimbabwe.com</a>, Masenda allegedly assaulted a Chinese miner following a mining dispute at a gold-rich mine in Mhangura.

ZANU PF Revokes Suspension Of Official Who Assaulted Chinese Miner

ZANU PF Mashonaland West Province has resolved to suspend its Youth League chairman, Tapiwa Masenda, for allegedly assaulting a Chinese miner, leaving him badly bruised.
The assault reportedly followed a mining dispute at a gold-rich mine in Mhangura.
A Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meeting held in Chinhoyi at the weekend chaired by ZANU PF provincial chairperson, Mary Mliswa-Chikoka, resolved to suspend Masenda.
In a statement, ZANU PF provincial secretary for publicity and information, Godknows Murambiwa said Masenda will undergo a disciplinary hearing. Said Murambiwa:

ZANU PF Mashonaland West Youth League Leader Assaults Chinese Miner

An Epworth woman was recently sentenced to a wholly suspended 16 months imprisonment by a magistrate after she poured boiling water on her husband’s genitals, accusing him of cheating.
The woman recently appeared before Harare Magistrate Stanford Mambanje, who found her guilty of assault.
Mambanje sentenced the accused to a wholly suspended 16 months imprisonment. Eight months were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The other eight months were set aside on condition that she performs 280 hours of community service at Epworth Local Board.
Allegations were that on 3 September 2021, the accused got angry with her husband, Tafadzwa Kachepa (33), while in bed and poured boiling water over his genitals. Kachepa was fast asleep.
The accused allegedly attacked her husband soon after the two had finished making love.
She had accused her husband of infidelity after discovering explicit messages from a suspected girlfriend.

Community Service For Woman Who Poured Boiling Water On Sleeping Hubby's Genitals

A member of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s Political Actors Dialogue (POLAD) has been convicted of assaulting a local businessman.
The leader of the National Alliance of Patriotic and Democratic Zimbabweans (NAPDR), Devine Mhambi-Hove (44), was fined $40 000 by a magistrate.
In addition, eight months of the sentence were suspended for the next five years on condition of good behaviour.
Hove (44) who is also chairperson of POLAD monitoring, implementation and evaluation committee, denied the assault charge but was convicted by Bulawayo magistrate Musaiwona Shotgame after a full trial.
The assault charge against Hove arose following a misunderstanding that he had with Trust Muteedzi, an entrepreneur.
Muteedzi owns Basement Bar located at Duly’s Building which is situated at the corner of 11th Avenue and Jason Moyo Street where he was also running a car wash business.
Prosecutors said on the day in question and at around 12 PM Muteedzi was sitting inside his bar and behind the counter when Hove entered.
Without provocation and for no apparent reason, Hove allegedly started assaulting Muteedzi with fists several times on his face.
The court further heard that Hove left the bar and later returned armed with a plank which he used to strike Muteedzi several times on his hand, neck and head.
The complainant sustained injuries as a result of the attack and was referred to the hospital for treatment.

POLAD Member Assaults Businessman

Suspected members of the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) and ruling ZANU PF activists reportedly assaulted senior journalist Godwin Mangudya while he was covering the ruling party’s Central Committee elections.
Mangudya was assaulted in the Harare suburb of Kuwadzana on 8 October 2022, according to <a href="https://zimbabwe.misa.org/media_violations/journalist-assaulted-and-forced-to-delete-footage-at-zanu-pf-meeting/">MISA Zimbabwe</a>.
Mangudya alerted MISA Zimbabwe that he was assaulted despite formally identifying himself and producing his press card.
He said he was detained for more than an hour, while the ZANU PF activists continuously demanded to further assault him.
CIO officers and ZANU PF security personnel reportedly confiscated Mangudya’s mobile phones and reset the gadgets resulting in him losing both his personal and work-related information.
On Friday, during a press briefing at the ZANU PF Headquarters in Harare, addressed by both the party’s Spokesperson, Christopher Mutsvangwa, and Political Commissar, Mike Bimha, the ruling party invited members of the media to cover its activities countrywide.

Journalist Forced To Delete Footage At ZANU PF Meeting

A 50-year-old man from Cowdray Park, Bulawayo was recently fined ZWL$24 000 by a magistrate for assaulting his wife, accusing her of infidelity and denying him sex.
Evans Farai Chitanda (50), who is employed as a general hand at Dominican Convent School, appeared before magistrate Shepherd Mjanja on Tuesday, facing one count of domestic violence.
Mnjanja warned Chitanda to desist from the conduct of violence in future and fined Chitando ZWL$24 000.
Prosecuting, Tafara Dzimbanete said on 11 September, Chitanda arrived home from work and began accusing his wife, Mary Chikumba (44) of infidelity.
Dzimbanhete assaulted Chikumba once with a fist on the cheek while further accusing her of denying him his conjugal rights.
The complainant sustained no physical injuries and hence she did not seek any medical attention. | The Sunday News

Man (50) Assaults Wife For Denying Him Sex, Fined Z$24 000

The family of a 53-year-old Karoi woman who was assaulted by her neighbour following a dispute over trespassing cattle has accused the country’s justice system of corruption and incompetence.
Sipiwe Kasora (53), was assaulted by Denford Nyadzo (23) after she had complained that cattle belonging to the Nyadzo family had trespassed and destroyed her maize.
Kasora was severely assaulted and left with a sore head and recurring headaches. This prompted her to report the matter to the police resulting in Denford’s arrest.
Kasora’s son, Hardknocks Usayiwevu, is not happy with the way the courts handled the matter.
He told Pindula News that her mother appeared three times at the Karoi Magistrates Court over the issue but the matter was remanded further to the 20th of June.
Usayiwevu said that the 20th of June was the only day her mother was allowed in the court.
He said after she gave her own narration, the docket had a lot of ommissions and irregularities which were made by the investigating officer.
He said that the medical affidavit was also missing and her mother was then directed to go back and start afresh.
According to Usayiwevu, the ruling on Kasora’s assault case was delivered that very day in her absence and Denford was sentenced to five years imprisonment.
He said the jail term was wholly suspended on condition that Denford does not commit a similar offence in the next 6 months. Added Usayiwevu:

What hurts me the most is that the accused had the audacity to call my mother a lunatic, bludgeoned her face with his fist, undressed her and sat on her chest while beating her up.

He said he feels the justice system has failed his family in freeing the suspect without giving him a custodial sentence.

Man Gets Suspended Sentence For Bludgeoning Woman (53) Over Trespassing Cattle

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has asked for “space” from the public including reporters to conduct investigations into the assault and torture of Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) activist Godfrey Karembera by police officers.
Karembera, better known as Madzibaba VeShanduko, was brutally assaulted while in custody at Harare Central Police Station on 17 March.
ZRP national spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi on Saturday told The Standard the police is investigating the allegations but need “space”. Said Nyathi:

We made it clear from the onset that we are investigating allegations that Karembera was beaten by police officers and we will make sure that the law takes its course.
So we would like to appeal to the members of the public including the media to give us the space to conduct investigations.
We also want to try to avoid investigating the case while at the same time we are giving every bit of information to the media.
But I can assure you that everything is being done above board.

Karembera was arrested in central Harare last Thursday and charged for disorderly conduct and trying to deface Mbuya Nehanda’s statue.
He appeared before Harare magistrate Barbara Mateko at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals on Saturday.
Karembera is currently admitted at the hospital where he is receiving treatment following the torture and assault by police officers.
His lawyer, Doug Coltart said the magistrate refused to allow him to file an application challenging his placement on remand after the torture. Mateko said the application should be made on Monday.

ZRP Demands Space To Probe Assault And Torture Of CCC Activist By Cops

A 26-year-old pirate taxi (mushikashika) driver from Zvishavane has been ordered to perform 105 hours of community service for assaulting one of his female passengers.
Tinashe Mpofu, a Toyota FunCargo driver, residing at 1305 Isaya Park assaulted and damaged items of a female passenger, Miranda Phiri (20), of village 19 Oreti under Chief Mafala.
Mpofu appeared before Zvishavane magistrate Archie Wochiunga on 15 February facing charges of assault and damage to property.
He pleaded guilty to the charges and was then ordered to perform 105 hours of community service at Gresham Primary School and failure to do so will result in him being sentenced to three months in prison.
Mpofu was also ordered to pay ZWL$64 400 for the damaged property which include a laptop and a cellphone.
Failure to restitute his victim before 30 March 2022 will result in Mpofu being imprisoned for four months.
Prosecutor Isheanesu Mashayanye told the court that on 8 February 2022 at around 1630 hours, Phiri boarded a white FunCargo driven by Mpofu on her way back home.
Phiri intended to be dropped at Madata bus stop before Dadaya turnoff along Zvishavane-Mbalabala Road.
When she saw that the driver had passed her station, she reminded him but he told her that he would drop her where he wanted.
It was further alleged that Mpofu then stopped the car and ordered Phiri to disembark.
Phiri however protested, saying she could go not back on foot because of the heavy luggage she was carrying.
The accused reportedly pulled Phiri by her hair forcing her out of the car and threw her luggage on the ground and demanded his money.
Mpofu is alleged to have twisted Phiri’s fingers, slapped her once on the left cheek before she fell down.
He allegedly started kicking her several times on her ribs, stomach and lower abdomen and stepped on Phiri’s cellphone several times until it ceased to function.
Mpofu also stepped on Phiri’s plastic bag with groceries several times and almost damaged all the groceries.
He also hit her three times with open fists on the back of her head and she fell down.
Mpofu was restrained by other passengers from reserving his car into Phiri, intending to kill her.

105 Hours Of Community Service For Assaulting Female Passenger

A ZANU PF councillor in Mberengwa was allegedly assaulted by two male ward committee members following a misunderstanding over the arrest of one Marvelous Hove.
Nokuthula Ndlera, the councillor for Ward 12, reported Edmund and Ferdinand Gumede to court for allegedly assaulting her and stealing her phone.
Ndlera who is also a teacher at Mabika High School in Mberengwa reported the matter on 12 April 2021.
Masvingo Mirror reported sources as saying the case was referred back by the prosecutor to the police for further investigations.
A senior Police officer who spoke to the publication on condition of anonymity also confirmed the same.
Meanwhile, Ndlera said that she was assaulted by the two after asking them why they had apprehended Marvelous. She said:
<blockquote>They began assaulting me after I demanded to know who they were and why they apprehended Marvelous. They were not wearing ZRP uniforms and they only want to stir trouble.</blockquote>
Investigations are reportedly being carried out by one Sergeant Nkululeko Ncube.
The prosecutor also wants a key witness identified as Marvelous Hove to make statements before the case can be brought before a magistrate.
Gumede has, however, refuted any allegations of assaulting the councillor.
He told Masvingo Mirror that there is a case of bicycles that were stolen from Mabika School and powerful politicians were involved.

MDC Alliance Manicaland provincial treasurer and Rusape-based businessman, Patrick Sagandira’s marital and family disputes continue to spill into the public arena following the arrest of his son for allegedly assaulting him, reports Manica Post.
Onayi Sagandira (20) appeared before Rusape magistrate, Rufaro Mangwiro last week for bashing his father whom he accuses of neglecting him.
Onayi, who is now out of custody, pleaded not guilty before the court and said his father was lying about the assault.
He said that his father is the one who had assaulted him, before rushing to make a false police report.
Meanwhile, prosecutor Melissa Saidi said Onayi assaulted his father several times all over the body, resulting in him sustaining some injuries. She told the court:
<blockquote>On April 9, the complainant went to his Castle Base home to collect a meat scale. The accused person closed the gate and questioned his father on why he was neglecting him. He slapped his father all over the body with open hands. Onayi also pushed his father to the ground.</blockquote>
In another case involving a Sagandira family member, Rusape magistrate, Ruth Moyo acquitted Sagandira’s first wife Doreen who was facing charges of stealing underpants from Sagandira and his second wife.
Doreen who was represented by Munyaradzi Manyengavana of Chiwanza and Associates was acquitted at the close of the State case after Moyo ruled that the case was very weak and fabricated.

MDC Alliance Official Bashed By Own Son

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) is appealing to members of the public for information that may lead to the identity of a man recorded in a video that has since give viral on social media platforms bashing his wife.
Police have said they are yet to establish the identity of the people involved, the place of occurrence and when the incident took place. The statement read:
<blockquote>The ZRP reiterates that it is still looking for the victim and suspect as seen in a video circulating on social media, where a woman is being assaulted severely by a man with another woman recording (in the background) whilst urging the victim to confess.
Both the woman and the man have not been identified yet. Investigations have been instituted to establish their identity, place of occurrence and date.
Members of the public are encouraged to supply information at any nearest Police Station.</blockquote>
Some reports had claimed that police in Mashonaland West Province had arrested the assailant and his nephew and wife who were present during the assault.

A Mutare magistrate has ordered the City of Mutare to pay more than RTGS$9 000 to a nurse, who sustained injuries in 2018 after she was assaulted by the local authority’s municipal police officer, the Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights (ZLHR) has revealed.
Mutare Provincial Magistrate Lazarus Murendo ordered Phineas Munyika, who is employed as a municipal police officer the local authority to pay damages amounting to RTGS$9 727 to Kumbirai Furusa, a nurse.
Munyika assaulted Furisa on 6 July 2018 when he was carrying out a joint operation dubbed “Operation Restore Sanity” together with some Zimbabwe National Army members and Zimbabwe Republic Police officers. <a href="https://www.zlhr.org.zw/?p=2281" rel="noopener" target="_blank">ZLHR said in its report:</a>
<blockquote>Furusa was assaulted while she was seated on the front passenger seat of a taxi, which she had boarded on her way to Greenside suburb in the eastern border city.
During the trial at Mutare Magistrates Court, Furusa, who was represented by Peggy Tavagadza of Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights to sue Munyika and CoM, told Magistrate Murendo that the municipal police officer dragged the nurse outside the taxi leading her to fall down and sustaining injuries on her knees.
Two witnesses namely Jonathan Takudzwa Makanya, a soldier and George Mufunda, a municipal police officer testified during the trial of Munyika as they were part of law enforcement officers enforcing the joint operation dubbed “Operation Restore Sanity”.
Furusa suffered some bruised on her knees and a plaster which she already had on her wrist and which was supposed to be removed on 9 July 2018, had to be replaced as a result of the fall from the taxi.
Her new plaster was only removed after six weeks although she continued to experience pain on her wrist.
Because of the injuries which she sustained, Furusa said she could not cook for her family and endured a lot of pain.</blockquote>

Municipal Cop Ordered To Compensate Nurse For Assault

A police officer who runs a pool table business at Pumula North high-density suburb shops in Bulawayo lost four teeth after he was hit with a rock by his employee who he had just fired.
Constable Luke Mafunda not only lost his gnashers but his employee, Albert Matangaidze, also stabbed him in the stomach, for terminating his contract.
Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Abednico Ncube confirmed the incident, saying Matangaidze had been arrested.
An eyewitness, Clifford Phiri said the incident occurred on Monday at around 09:30 PM when Mafunda fired Matangaidze and hired another man. Said Phiri:

A man from Odzi was slapped with an 18-month jail term for breaking his wife’s arm over a phone number.
Kudakwashe Chitsiku assaulted his wife, Christine Chitsiku, after finding her with a phone number on a piece of paper.
He was convicted on his own guilty plea to the physical abuse charges he was facing when he appeared before Mutare magistrate, Richard Ramaboa on Monday.
Kudakwashe will, however, serve an effective 12 months in jail after Ramaboa suspended six months of the sentence for five years on condition of good behaviour.
Prosecuting Chris Munyuki said when Kudakwashe found the phone number, he confronted his wife as he suspected that she was cheating on him.
He assaulted his wife all over the body with a log resulting in her sustaining a broken right hand, an eye injury and bruises all over her body.
Neighbours came to Christine’s rescue and rushed her to Victoria Chitepo Provincial Hospital.
Kudakwashe was arrested after neighbours made a report to the police.

A Zimbabwean-man based in Ireland was on Friday jailed two years for attacking and injuring a man he thought was having an affair with his wife.
26-year-old Nkosiyadha Mguni, of Clonakilty Lodge, Clonakilty, Co Cork appeared before Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin at Cork Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.
Mguni allegedly called to the home of the victim, who he headbutted, caught by the neck, and lifted off the ground, chased up the street, knocked to the ground, kicked in the head, and then when he was on the ground, stomped on his head twice.
The incident occurred on 8 June this year and his lawyer Patrick Silke said Mguni believed that the other man had been having an affair with his wife. Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin ruled:
<blockquote>This is a case of an unprovoked assault of a man in his own home. The fact that he called to the door of the victim, headbutting him, dragging him out on the lane, where he kicked him in an unmerciful way, there was no justification now, then, or ever for this unmerciful assault. There is little in this case by way of remorse.</blockquote>
The judge said that in respect of the victim, apart from the physical injuries to his head, his confidence has been undermined.
Mguni moved from Zimbabwe to Ireland three years ago.

Zimbabwean Man Jailed 2 Years For Attacking His Wife's 'Boyfriend' In Ireland

A Matobo man is in a critical condition in hospital after he was struck with a log while trying to stop a beer brawl at Sun Yet Sen last week.
In a statement, the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) said the incident occurred on Thursday when the men were drinking beer at the homestead.
Police have urged members of the public to comply with COVID-19 national lockdown measures by avoiding unnecessary gatherings. The statement read:
<blockquote>In Sun Yet Sen, on 30/7/20, a male adult who had gone for a beer drink was assaulted with a wooden stick until he fell down unconscious. He had tried to stop an argument between his assailant and a resident at the homestead.
The man has since been admitted at Tselanyemba Hospital, in a critical condition. Members of the public are urged to comply with COVID-19 national lock-down measures by avoiding unnecessary gatherings.</blockquote>
Since the lockdown was imposed in March, over one hundred thousand people have been arrested across the country for violating lockdown regulations.
Local coronavirus transmissions have spiked in recent weeks with the capital Harare now considered a COVID-19 hotspot.

Matobo Man Critically Injured In Beer Brawl At Sun Yet Sen

Police in <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Manicaland_Province" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Manicaland Province</a> has confirmed the arrest of a 33-year-old man who allegedly chopped off his friend’s hand with a machete after a misunderstanding over a sim card on Sunday.
Provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Tavhiringwa Kakohwa revealed that Boniface Ziaphela (34) lost his arm after it was cut off by Moffat Sithole with a machete during a beer drink at D` Plaza Tararo farm. Said Ins. Kakohwa:
<blockquote>Sithole asked Ziaphela to use his phone to purchase beer after his had turned off due to power.
After buying beer, Sithole returned Ziaphela`s phone but he later came back claiming that he had forgotten his sim card.
Ziaphela denied that he was in possession of the said sim card and the two exchanged words and Sithole stormed out of the bar.</blockquote>
Sithole reportedly returned to the bar armed with a machete and in the company of Lukestone Sithole, Muneru and Dingiswayo.
They dragged Ziaphela out of the bar and started assaulting him. Sithole hit Ziaphela on his right hand with a machete, completely removing his arm before the gang melted into the darkness.

Man Loses Hand During Fight Over Lost Sim Card

A <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_Broadcasting_Corporation" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC)</a> cameraman was allegedly assaulted by an MDC security official in Gwanda, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Matabeleland_South_Province" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Matabeleland South Province</a>, moments after party leader Nelson Chamisa had addressed a meeting.
The incident reportedly occurred outside Gwanda District Club on Monday at around 5 PM as Providence Maranelli was filming Chamisa and his entourage’s departure from the venue. An eyewitness told the Chronicle:
<blockquote>After the meeting as <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Nelson_Chamisa" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Nelson Chamisa</a> was driving out of the Gwanda District Club with his entourage the cameraperson was filming while standing outside venue.
The third car which was part of his entourage stopped and one guy walked up to him, slapped him and went back into the vehicle and they drove off.</blockquote>
The opposition MDC has often clashed with reporters from State media, accusing them of bias.
Meanwhile, the party has been complaining that the State media does not cover its events yet the party’s security details have on several occasions harassed and kicked out reporters intending to cover its events.

Bindura South MP, <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Remigious_Matangira" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Remigious Matangira</a> (Zanu PF) and his driver Tichaona Svinurai (32) appeared before <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Bindura" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Bindura</a> provincial magistrate Tinashe Ndokera on Thursday last week facing assault charges.
The duo allegedly assaulted an MDC activist, Saymore Mashokoro (45), on June 22 last year.
Matangira (66) and Svinurai reportedly stepped on Mashokoro’s foot and slapped him in the face, leaving him swollen. He reported the matter to the police resulting in the arrest of the duo.
Matangira and Svinurai were remanded out of custody to February 11 for the continuation of trial.

ZANU PF MP In Court For Assaulting MDC Activist

A group of touts and cross border transport operators were arrested for an alleged assault involving a Zimbabwe <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_United_Passenger_Company" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">United Passenger Company (ZUPCO)</a> bus driver in Gwanda.
The group of touts appeared before <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Gwanda" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Gwanda</a> magistrate, Nomagugu Sibanda, facing public violence charges.
They were granted $300 bail each and ordered to stay at their given addresses, not interfere with State witnesses and to report once every Friday at police stations near them.
On December 4 this year, the gang allegedly assaulted the ZUPCO driver, Justice Sanya, who was parked at Engen Garage in Gwanda and loading passengers en route to <a href="https://www.pindula.co.zw/Beitbridge" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Beitbridge</a>.
They reportedly dragged from the bus into the Gwanda- Beitbridge Highway and further assaulted him.
They allegedly threatened to burn the ZUPCO bus which they referred to as “the Mnangagwa Zanu-PF bus”.

Gwanda Touts Beat Up ZUPCO Bus Driver

A woman from Cowdray Park suburb in Bulawayo has been sentenced to an effective six months in prison for assaulting a 17-year-old girl and forcing her to walk n_ked in the streets.
She pleaded guilty to an assault charge before West Commonage magistrate, Tancy Dube who sentenced her to nine months in jail. Three months were suspended on condition that she does not commit a similar offence within the next three years.
The victim was a girlfriend to the convicted woman’s son. The woman said she was angry and failed to control herself after the girl refused to submit her parents’ contact details.
The girl said she was attacked when she visited her boyfriend around 11 AM. She said:
<blockquote>My boyfriend sent me a message on WhatsApp to pay him a visit at his place of residence. When I arrived I sat in his bedroom. At around 11 AM, his mother came and opened the window asking her son to unlock the door for her.
My boyfriend instructed me to flee through the back yard, unfortunately, his mother followed me and attacked me.
She tore my jeans and I lost my phone during the incident as she continued assaulting me.</blockquote>
She added that the woman dragged her to a neighbour’s house where she stripped her n_ked and pushed her out on the street.
Good Samaritans gave clothes to the girl after they saw her walking n_de and crying.

Woman Jailed 6 Months For Stripping Son's Girlfriend N_ked

Five security officials, two soldiers, two traffic police officers, and a municipal cop who assaulted a freelance journalist, Clayton Masekesa, over adultery allegations have been fined $500 each by a Mutare regional magistrate.
The five, Saul Tomu (53), Penelock Majonhi (41), Everson Mark Marozva (33), Hope Mwaipa (33) and Joachim Runyanga (35) denied the charges alleging that Masekesa was beaten by members of the public.
Mukunyadze ruled that State witnesses gave overwhelming evidence that the suspects assaulted Masekesa and plastered him with mud in a bid to humiliate him.
The magistrate further ordered the convicts to pay the fines immediately or face four months imprisonment.
The five were also slapped with a six-month jail term each which was wholly suspended on condition that they do not commit a similar offence in the next five years.
The case had dragged for more than two years since the attack on the journalist that went viral after the perpetrators posted it on social media.

5 Security Officials Fined For Bashing Freelance Journalist

MDC Alliance Member of Parliament for Mpopoma-Pelandaba, Charles Moyo appeared before Bulawayo magistrate Jeconiah Ncube facing an assault charge.
Moyo reportedly assaulted a female party member during ward elections held at the party’s provincial offices in Bulawayo.
He allegedly slapped the party’s provincial deputy chairperson on Gender Representation, Tsitsi Mutekeri, after she complained that the election process was not in line with the party’s constitution. Moyo assaulted the woman when she attempted to leave the venue in protest.
Moyo pleaded not guilty to the assault charge and was remanded out of custody to April 15 on $100 bail.

MDC MP In Court For Assaulting Female Party Member

A man from Chinyamukwakwa village in Chipinge was brutally attacked by a South African-based Zimbabwean man who had returned home to check on his family in the wake of the floods.
Maxwell Masonga (32) brutally assaulted Josiah Altyson Sithole (age not given) to a pulp, accusing him of bedding his wife.
This was revealed on Wednesday at the initial appearance of Masonga before Chipinge magistrate, Joshua Nembaware.
Masonga is facing assault charges and was remanded in custody to April 8 as the State awaits Sithole’s medical report.
Masonga allegedly struck Sithole with a brick on the head and face several times. He was rushed to St Peter’s Hospital and later transferred to Chiredzi District Hospital.

Man Battles For Life After Assault By Injiva

A warrant of arrest was issued for Grace Mugabe’s brother, Samuel Marufu on Thursday after he failed to appear in court.
Marufu was supposed to appear in court for assaulting Tafadzwa Chekai (39) on July 8, 2017. He is among three suspects who were summoned to appear before Karoi magistrate Rutendo Jakata on Thursday together with Boydo Katiriri (35) and Munyaradzi Marufu (42).
According to the State, the trio met Chekai of Chitahuke, village under Chief Kazangarare, at Nyahowa farm before offering him transport to go to Dunga. Along the way they diverted to their farm at Chitsuwa. Katiriri allegedly accused Chekai of recruiting MDC supporters before assaulting him with open hands and fists before the Marufu brothers joined in.

In a statement, Police spokesperson Charity Charamba said they have arrested a police officer who was filmed by Sky News beating a handcuffed man along Chiremba road in Harare.
Charamba said they managed to identify the person as Constable Makumire. She said Makumire is on suspension and is on bail for contravening section 113 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act, Chapter 9:23 “Theft” (four counts). She said Makumire was not on official duty during the time he assaulted the handcuffed person. We publish the full statement below:

The security services have always been emphasizing that bogus and rogue elements are responsible for acts of lawlessness which are tarnishing the good standing of security services. Earlier reports had indicated that the video was shot in 2016, however upon further clarification from the investigating team it was established that the video was actually shot on Saturday 26 January 2019. Investigations are widening to account for the remaining members of the security services captured in the video.

Ndoro is facing charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm. The Warriors striker was arrested on Saturday after allegedly assaulting his wife Thando. Thando alleged that Ndoro had strangled her and thrown a television set at her. The couple tied the knot in a traditional wedding just six months ago. Said Thando,

He wanted the car keys and I didn’t give him because I was supposed to drop my son off at school. He pinned me on the bed and strangled me while he searched for the keys.
