"They're Being Handled Somewhere," As ZANU PF Investigates Power Behind Youth League "Indiscipline"

The ruling ZANU PF has appointed its Secretary for Security, Lovemore Matuke to investigate the power behind the “indiscipline and delinquent behaviour” of some Youth League members who were recently suspended.

Pupurai Togarepi, Godfrey Tsenengamu and Lewis Matutu who were, in that order, the Youth League’s Secretary, Political Commissar and Deputy Secretary were suspended after they named and shamed alleged cartels bleeding the economy.

Tsenengamu was eventually expelled after he refused to attend Herbert Chitepo School of ideology.

The party’s Secretary for Administration, Obert Mpofu spoke after the ZANU PF 338 Politburo session in Harare on Wednesday and said the League was clearly speaking on someone’s behalf. He said:

This matter also received a lot of attention and it has become very clear that in some cases, if not in most cases, these youths are being handled by some senior members of the party, and as a result of that, the secretary for security Cde Matuke has been directed by the Politburo to establish exactly where this indiscipline is emanating from.

There are reports of factionalism in the party as members are reportedly divided between President Mnangagwa and VP Chiwenga while the remnants of G40 faction are reportedly paving way for the return of Saviour Kasukuwere.
