Mliswa Yearns For MDC Alliance MPs' Return To Parliament

Outspoken Norton legislator, Temba Mliswa (Independent), has urged National Assembly Speaker Jacob Mudenda to speedily resolve the boycott stance taken by MDC Alliance MPs, saying ruling ZANU PF legislators are too meek to take on cabinet ministers during Parliament’s question and answer sessions.

Speaking in Parliament on Tuesday, Mliswa claimed that in the absence of MDC Alliance MPs, he was now the only remaining legislator who could raise serious matters in the House. He said:

Honourable, I will not be able to handle the situation alone. Asking serious questions on Wednesday during question and answer sessions will be difficult for me as Zanu PF MPs are weak.

I am the only opposition member in here right now. The ruling party must not celebrate the absence of MDC members.

MDC Alliance MPs are boycotting all Parliamentary-related business in protest over the expulsion of four senior party officials who were serving legislators by a faction led by Thokozani Khupe.

The boycott is one of the highlights in the struggle for control of the country’s largest opposition parties between MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa and Khupe.
