"Biti, Kore Remain In High Spirits"

MDC Alliance vice presidents Tendai Biti and Lynette Karenyi-Kore, and other party officials who were arrested on Friday “remain in high spirits” after they were taken back to Harare Central Police Station this Saturday without appearing before the Magistrates Court.

The officials were arrested at the MDC Alliance headquarters, Morgan Richard Tsvangirai (MRT) House, formerly Harvest House in Harare.

They were initially charged with criminal nuisance but today, police came up with an additional charge of violating lockdown regulations.

The party’s secretary for international relations, Gladys Hlatywayo, who is among the officials who were arrested yesterday, said:

It is also regrettable that the decision to alter charges is not an independent decision of the Police. The level of external interference is shocking. The levels of State Capture are unbelievable. We remain strong. We remain in high spirits. It shall all come to pass.

We have now been taken back to Harare Central Police Station without appearing before the Magistrates Court. The police are now altering the charges. The police are now scrounging for fresh or alternative charges. The state cannot vary original charges.

Meanwhile, MDC Alliance Sunningadale 2 Branch Chairperson Admire Nyandoro has been arrested at Rotten Row Court for unnecessary movement.

He had come to court to attend the MDC Alliance leaders’ court hearing.
