Sources close to the developments in Bulawayo claim the Bulawayo giants Highlanders Football Club is planning to dumb Roar and settle for UMBRO, The Chronicle reports. According to a source, Umbro will now become the technical sponsor for the football team.
UMBRO will reportedly supply iBosso with Jerseys and recoup its investment over time though selling merchandise to the loyal Highlanders fans all over the world particularly in South Africa where thousands of fans are based in.
A source that spoke to the publication said:
At the moment the deal is not yet ready for public consumption, but it’s just a matter of time. All the logistics have been done, including design, which came from the club, unlike in the previous arrangement whereby Highlanders had no input. However, what is certain is that Roar is no longer part of Highlanders.
Highlanders also lost its biggest sponsor NetOne which announced it was terminating their 3 year contract early due to financial constraints.
