Former MDC T Vice President Elias Mudzuri has said contrary to what people are saying that Khupe only became the interim president of the MDC T after the supreme court made her the leader, and they have joined her MDC T Bulawayo party, she was always the rightful leader after she was elected at the party’s congress in 2014.
Mudzuri tweeted:
It is a lie that the Supreme Court ruling gave us a leader and made us join Dr Khupe’s Byo Congress party. We are MDC whose founding president was Dr Tsvangirai. Dr Khupe’s legitimacy as Acting President is derived from the 2014 Congress which elected her VP.
This comes amid a leadership wrangle between Thokozani Khupe and Nelson Chamisa that was escalated by the Supreme Court ruling that declared Chamisa an illegitimate MDC leader and restored the party’s 2014 structures.
