Highlanders could be debt-free in the next few days as the club’s legacy debt clearance campaign gathers momentum, the Chronicle reports.
This was revealed by iBosso’s supporters’ South African chapter chairman Nodumo Nyathi who explained that they were close to clearing the Bulawayo giants’ debt by this weekend if donations keep pouring in:
Thank you so much to everyone who has played a part in this campaign. After checking what we have raised so far, I am happy to announce that clearing Highlanders FC Debt by end of July 2020 is possible. We now need the equivalent of R40 000 to completely clear Highlanders FC’s debt. If we manage to get 400 Bosso sons and daughters all over the world to each put R100 or US$6, we will wipe Bosso’s debt by the end of July.
Nyathi urged people to keep donating as he said their dream to have a debt-free club is possible. In May and June, 95 people halved Highlander’s debt which was edging towards $900 000 since they started.
