The speaker of the United States House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi has called former Vice President Joe Biden ‘President-elect’ adding that it is ‘clear’ he will win the election.
This comes as Joe Biden is winning in Trump’s perceived strongholds.
Biden is locked in a tight presidential race with the Republican’s Donald Trump who is seeking a second term in office.
Both Trump and Biden have claimed victory but Trump is trailing behind by a great margin and is even losing in the Republican’s usual hunting grounds.
Trump’s bid to retain the presidency was thrown off the rails by the way he handled the coronavirus and the deteriorating economy that this year reached unprecedented levels.
His disgruntled supporters have this week been protesting outside vote counting centres echoing Trump’s “stop the count” remarks.
