ZANU PF Patriots have said that during his tenure as president, the late founding father of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, denied private burial to a number of colleagues including some below. This comes as Mugabe allegedly rejected to be buried at the National Heroes Acre where the country’s “heroes” are usually buried. It is still not known where Mugabe will be buried after his family announced that the burial will be a private family event.

PICTURES: Heroes That Were Denied Private Burial By Robert Mugabe

Speaking at <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Cephas_Msipa">Cephas Msipa</a>‘s burial yesterday, President <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Robert_Mugabe">Robert Mugabe</a> said the housing programme being rolled out for young people by <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_African_National_Union_-_Patriotic_Front">Zanu-PF</a> would be revised after corrupt allocations had been unearthed. He said,
<blockquote>Even nyaya idzodzi idzi, dzema stand, which we would want to see revised because we cannot go the way we are doing. Ma youths anongoramba aripozve. But land hairambe iripo. Why can’t we start maprojects ekuvaka kuti vamwe vapinde mune matavapa; angave madouble storey building . . .to accommodate their people. (Even the issue of stand, which we would want to see revised because we cannot go the way we are doing. Youth will always be there. But land won’t. Why can’t we start building projects so that others occupy where we give them, be it double storey buildings…to accommodate their people.</blockquote>
<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Saviour_Kasukuwere">Kasukuwere</a> is accused of allocating stands to <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Walter_Magaya">Walter Magaya</a> and several ruling party youths loyal to him. Among those suspected to have benefited from the alleged scam are Magaya, Harare South MP, <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Shadreck_Mashayamombe">Shadreck Mashayamombe</a>, Kuwadzana MP, Betty Kaseke and Kasukuwere’s younger brother, Tongai among several others.
Mugabe also criticised expelled former <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Mashonaland_East_Province">Mashonaland East Governor</a> and former Zanu-PF provincial chair <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Ray_Kaukonde">Ray Kaukonde</a> whom he said protected white farmers during the post-2000 land reforms. Speaking on the issue he said,
<blockquote>When later, some audit was done, we discovered that Midlands had land which still had lots of varungu. Tobvunza kuti, ko chii? Kuda varungu here uku? Apa vayi batana nana Mnangagwa. Zvikanzi: ‘Aiwa, takasiya vese vakanga vari vemadairy. That was different because it was done on the basis of principle. Different from what happened in Mashonaland East. Aaaah, taiti sei; hakusisina land? Why? Yakapera? Tozoti totarisa zviri mupfimbi yedu yePeople First; taakuwongorara zvakanyanyisisa tikawona kuti aaaah, Kaukonde aisiira varungu ikoko. Varungu (vaive) shamwari dzake. (Whites were his friends). There were over 73 farms dzakaitwa discover, dzisiri agro-industrial asi pahushamwari. Hanzi tiri kudzivigiridza. Mazviona ka, izvozvo ndozvatisingade. VaMsipa vakanga vasingade.</blockquote>

Mugabe criticises Kaukonde at Msipa's burial. Plans to reverse Kasukuwere's allocation of stands

The late <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Cephas_Msipa">Cephas Msipa</a>’s brother, Mr Obert Msipa, said while there were areas of disagreement regarding the burial of his brother, President Mugabe had convinced the family to have him interred at the national shrine. Msipa had requested that he be buried next to his wife in <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Gweru">Gweru</a>.
Msipa said,
<blockquote>We thank the Government for the honour bestowed on our brother. We are happy that he will be buried at the National Heroes’ Acre in Harare on Saturday. Yes you might have read in the papers of some disagreements that were there but President Mugabe showed us the way. President <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Robert_Mugabe">Mugabe</a> said it was not possible for Cde Msipa to be buried away from his fellow comrades. President Mugabe said his fellow comrade; his former roommate when they were still bachelors, could not be buried “mubako” (in a cave)”. Yes we had our views, yes we thought he could be buried in Gweru but that is not the case now and we are happy with what President Mugabe said. So I thank you all for coming in numbers to see our brother off to the National Heroes Acre.</blockquote>

Msipa's family says Mugabe convinced them to change Cephas Msipa's wish to be buried next to wife

In an interview with NewsDay, the late <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Cephas_Msipa">Cephas Msipa</a>‘s son Douglas said he was devastated by the decision to bury his father at the <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/National_Heroes_Acre">National Heroes Acre</a> since his father’s last wish was to be buried next to his wife Charlotte, at the Midlands Provincial Heroes Acre. The decision was taken at a meeting attended by officials from the Home Affairs ministry and three of Msipa’s sons based in Harare – Cephas Jnr, Chris and Elijah.
Speaking to NewsDay, Douglas Msipa said,
<blockquote>I am devastated by the decision. The family and the people of Midlands will also be devastated. It is not what we had expected as a family, as most people are aware of his wish.</blockquote>
Joram Gumbo also confirmed Msipa’s request to be buried next to his wife,
<blockquote>What Douglas told you is true. He (the late Msipa) told me, as a cousin, in the presence of the whole family. He called me on this year’s National Heroes’ Day commemorations and said to me: ‘Do you know why we left this space? This is the grave that I want to be buried in, next to my dear wife’. He was so much in love with his wife. That is why he requested that.</blockquote>

Msipa's son devastated by decision to bury his father at National Heroes Acre

<a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Cephas_Msipa">Cephas George Msipa</a>, who died at a private hospital in <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Harare">Harare</a> on Monday, will now be buried on Saturday at the <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_National_Heroes_Acre">National Heroes Acre</a>, instead of Gweru Provincial Heroes Acre, where he had requested to be buried next to his wife Charlotte Sithabile Msipa, who died in 2013.
The announcement was made by family spokesperson Mr Masimba Msipa last night. Speaking after a church service at the Msipa residence in Borrowdale, Harare, last night, Mr Msipa said the decision was reached after considering logistical challenges and was arrived at in consultation with the <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_African_National_Union_-_Patriotic_Front">Zanu-PF</a> party.He said,
<blockquote>Although the family would have wanted him to be buried in Gweru next to his wife, we have agreed that he will now be buried at the national shrine on Saturday. We want to make it clear that we are not in conflict with the party and, we appreciate that VaMsipa was not only our father, but father to many. We have been working very well with the committee organising his funeral arrangements and we really appreciate that.</blockquote>
The new programme will now see Cde Msipa’s body being taken to 1 Commando on Thursday before being transported to Siboza in <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zvishavane">Zvishavane</a> and then to Mandava Stadium the same day. From Mandava Stadium, Msipa’s body will be taken to the Msipa family home in Gweru, where it will lie in state overnight until Friday morning. Msipa’s son said the body was expected to leave <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Gweru">Gweru</a> for Harare around 3pm for burial at the national shrine on Saturday.

Msipa to be buried at National Heroes Acre despite request to be buried in Gweru next to wife

In an interview with New Zimbabwe, Douglas said his late father <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Cephas_Msipa">Cephas Msipa</a>, would be buried in <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Gweru">Gweru</a> on Saturday after he expressed wishes to be buried close to his wife.
Douglas said
<blockquote>It is very true he expressed wishes to be buried in Gweru where our mother is buried and according to what he wished for, we will respect his wishes.</blockquote>
He will be laid to rest at the Midlands Provincial Heroes Acre where his wife Charlotte, who died in 2013, is buried. Meanwhile, opposition parties have mourned Msipa, describing him as a man of integrity.

Msipa says no to National Heroes Acre

Former Midlands governor and Zanu-PF Politburo member <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Cephas_Msipa">Cephas Msipa</a>, who died at Westend Hospital in Harare yesterday, has been declared a national hero. Burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
Acting President <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Emmerson_Mnangagwa">Emmerson Mnangagwa</a> announced the hero status at Msipa’s son Charles’ Borrowdale home in Harare last night. He said although the Midlands Province was still to write to the party making its recommendations on the hero status, a resolution had already been made in consultation with President <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Robert_Mugabe">Mugabe</a> that he be conferred National hero status.

Msipa declared national hero

Former <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_African_National_Union_-_Patriotic_Front">Zanu PF</a> member <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Cephas_Msipa">Cephas George Msipa</a> died today at West End Hospital. Msipa was admitted last week and was suspected to be suffering from a chest infection. To celebrate his life here are five things you probably did not know about him:
<ol>
<li>He was taught by the late nationalist Reverend <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Ndabaningi_Sithole" title="Ndabaningi Sithole">Ndabaningi Sithole</a> at Dadaya Mission.</li>
<li>Before being a politician he was a school teacher and was President of the Rhodesia Teachers’ Association from 1961 to 1965. He was dismissed from the teaching profession by the Government in 1964 but was however retained by the Teachers Association which recognised his value by appointing him its paid secretary.</li>
<li>While in detention he studied for an external degree with the University of South Africa and graduated with a Bachelors in Administration.</li>
<li>After <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe" title="Zimbabwe">Zimbabwe</a>’s independence, Msipa worked in government first as deputy minister of Youth, Sport and Recreation, Manpower Planning and Development and later as minister of Water Resources and Development and lastly as Governor of the Midlands Province.</li>
<li>He retired from active politics in December 2014 when he decided not to contest for a central committee position.</li>

Five things you probably did not know about Cephas Msipa

Former <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Zimbabwe_African_National_Union_-_Patriotic_Front">Zanu PF</a> member <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Cephas_Msipa">Cephas Msipa</a> has died. He passed on at West End clinic in Harare this morning. Msipa was hospitalised last week over a suspected chest infection. Several top Zanu PF officials, among them national commissar Saviour Kasukuwere, visited him at the hospital.
Last week the former Zanu-PF politburo member was said to be breathing unaided. In an interview with the Chronicle his son Douglas had said his father was responding well to medication. At the time he dismissed social media reports which were saying that the former freedom fighter had died.
Msipa was born on 7 July 1931 in Shabani in a family of 10 children and was married to Sharlottie Msipa and they had eight children. He was educated at Siboza School from 1941 to 1943 before going to Dadaya Mission where he was taught by Reverend <a href="http://www.pindula.co.zw/Ndabaningi_Sithole" title="Ndabaningi Sithole">Ndabaningi Sithole</a>. He left school in 1949 but returned to Dadaya in 1951 to train as a primary school teacher. Between 1953 to 1954, he studied privately for his Matriculation Exemption Certificate.
Meawhile, Msipa’s grandson, Lloyd Junior Msipa, was found dead in his room at university this morning. No information has been made available as to the cause of death.
