2 men reportedly shot and killed a 73-year-old grandmother in front of her orphaned grandchildren in Ndudzo Village, Chief Bunina in Lower Gweru, The Herald reports.
According to the Herald, one of the 2 gunmen fired 2 bullets and instantly killed Mrs Eve Siwela before running away and leaving her grandchildren screaming for help.
Here are the facts that have been presented by the publication on the issue so far:

<li>The 2 unknown men approached the grandmother at her home in her hut and asked the whereabouts of one Sakhile</li>
<li>Granny Siwela said she doesn’t know anyone by that name</li>
<li>One of the suspects open fired at the granny and hit her twice, once on the right cheek and once on the left collarbone</li>
<li>They then fled leaving the grandchildren screening for help</li>
</ol>
ZRP is yet to establish the motive for the killing. The gunmen are still on the run, and ZRP’s enquiries on the case led them to discover there is only one Sakhile in the whole area and she is a woman yet the gunmen insinuated the Sakhile they were looking for was a man.

2 Gunmen Kill 73 Year Old Granny In Front Of Her Orphaned Grandchildren

A gang of 6 armed robbers reportedly shot and seriously injured 2 Gweru Police Officers who had responded to a robbery at a businessman’s house in the city. the Chronicle reports.
The incident was confirmed by ZRP National Spokesperson Assitant Commissioner Paul Nyathi who told the publication that:
<blockquote>Information we got is that some police officers reacted to a robbery that was taking place at the businessman’s house in Gweru.
It is said one robber entered the house first and when he faced some resistance from the businessman, five more robbers got into the house and took the family hostage and tortured one of his relatives. During the robbery, the businessman managed to contact the police who responded swiftly.
Sensing that police reinforcements were on their way, the robbers decided to flee and drove off in a Mazda MPV which they dumped just a few metres from the house before fleeing on foot into the dark of the night.</blockquote>
This comes a few weeks after ZRP shot and killed 4 armed robbers who had pounced on a Harare businessman. Among the deceased was a Police officer stationed at Hatfield Police. Cases of armed robberies are on the rise in many parts of the country.

6 Gunmen Shoot And Injure 2 Policemen

MDC leader Nelson Chamisa has castigated the attempted abduction of youth league leader, Tererai Obey Sithole during an evening prayer meeting organised by the Zimbabwe Council of Churches (ZCC) in Harare.
Writing on Twitter on Thursday, Chamisa castigated State terrorism and severe violence towards citizens. He said:
<blockquote>The attempted abduction on MDC youth leader, Obey Sithole by unknown men with unmarked vehicles, armed with AK 47 guns is both a reminder and a confirmation that Zimbabwe, being unsafe for its citizens and visitors, is a country under extreme terrorism and severe violence.</blockquote>

About Five (5) to eight (8) gun-wielding men in 2 motor vehicles, a Toyota Rav-4, and a White Toyota Quantum minibus were involved in this violent act.
However, their efforts were foiled by members of the officials’ entourage. This incident was reported to the police.
… as the church body that had created such a sacred and safe space for respectful engagement, we feel such acts of violence violate all forms of decency and should be condemned in the strongest of terms.</blockquote>

Chamisa Condemns Attempted Abduction Of Tererai Sithole By 8 Gunmen

Below is the full statement by the Zimbabwe Council of Churches over the alleged attempted abduction of MDC officials by 8 gunmen at a prayer meeting:
<blockquote>Psalm 46 verses 1-2: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though mountains shake in the heart of the sea.
The evening of the 31st of July 2019 saw the successful hosting of the final episode of The Zimbabwe Political Dialogue Series in partnership with ZimPapers Television Network (ZTN) at The Venue, in Avondale, Harare.
This was the 7th episode of this political dialogue platform, whose aim was to create a safe space for different political players to find each other towards a lasting solution to the myriad of challenges facing the nation. 
The panellists were drawn from various political parties and civil society organizations.
These were: 
1. Sekai Holland- National Peace Trust 
2. Jacob Mafume- Movement for Democratic Change Paul 
3. Munyaradzi Mangwana- ZANU PF 
4. Sakhile Sifelani- Women in Politics Support Unit 
5. Jealous Mawarire- National Patriotic Front 
6. Lewis Matutu- ZANU PF 
7. Obey Sithole- Movement for Democratic Change
Also in attendance were members of the diplomatic community, Church leaders and members of various congregations, Legislators, Business, members of different political parties, Academia, Civil Society Organizations, students, and members of the public.

FULL TEXT: 8 Gunmen Attempt To Abduct MDC Officials At Prayer Meeting

One man is reported to have died when gunmen opened fire on a minibus which was carrying Zimbabweans who were heading for home. The shooting occured along the N1 highway near Polokwane on Tuesday at around 4 AM. The gunmen later robbed all the occupants including the deceased of cash and valuables. No arrests have been made so far.
Limpopo Province South Africa Police Service spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe’ Ngoepe said:
<blockquote>The police in Westenburg outside Polokwane have launched a massive manhunt for the group of armed suspects for the murder and robbery which occurred along the N1 South road near the Ranch Hotel in the early hours of this morning.
The nine occupants, who are all Zimbabwean nationals were travelling from Gauteng to Zimbabwe in a Toyota Quantum along this road when a silver grey Toyota Avanza forcefully pulled them off the road and these suspects started shooting randomly until the kombi lost control and got stuck in a donga alongside the road.</blockquote>
