Govt To Build “Trabablas Trail” Shrine In Honour Of Mnangagwa

Government and Zanu-PF have started preparatory work to build a shrine known as “Trabablas Trail” at Masvingo Railway Station in memory of the bombing of a Rhodesian locomotive by President Emmerson Mnangagwa in 1964, that resulted in his arrest and subsequent sentencing to death. The shrine is named after Mnangagwa’s liberation war name, “Trabablas Dzokerai Mabhunu”.

The Herald reports work at the shrine began in 2015 but Mnangagwa’s paraphernalia, including his liberation war era photos that were on display at the railway station were removed by suspected G40 members after he briefly fled the country after he was fired from Government by former president Robert Mugabe late last year.

Vice chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Enshrinement, Dr Gibson Mahach said they are also looking at how to connect the “Trabablas Trail” shrine to other places in Manicaland Province where members of President Mnangagwa’s Crocodile Gang carried various activities. He said besides Trabablas Trail, there were also plans to enshrine other places like Kamungoma Site in Gutu and Gonakudzingwa Restriction Camp in Chikombedzi, where Zapu leaders including late Vice President Joshua Nkoma were confined.
