ZANU PF Official Politicising Food Aid Donated To Cyclone Victims By UNICEF - Report

A ZANU PF official in Chimanimani East, Nokuthula Matsikenyere, is accused of distributing food aid along partisan lines to survivors of Cyclone Idai.
Concerned villagers who spoke to NewZimbabwe.com over the weekend accused ruling ZANU PF party officials of politicising the disaster relief donated by the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).
Reports claim that Matsikenyere was accosted by angry villagers on Sunday at Biriwiri Growth point over the issue. Villagers who spoke to NewZimbabwe.com on condition of anonymity said:
On Saturday UNICEF donated food hampers to victims of the cyclone in Ward 17 but only Zanu PF supporters from areas like Nyamusundu and Manzou got the aid which contained food items such as rice and cooking oil.
The food was also donated during the night without the knowledge of most of the villagers.

… The MP claimed that we did not vote for her and that is the reason why we do not deserve the food. She said she would rather give food to villagers whom she was certain voted her than to give us.
Every family was affected by this disaster and we are actually shocked by people who want to politicise this disaster.
