ZIFA Trims Warriors Squad, Big Guns Expected To Bounce Back

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) will trim to 24 the Warriors squad that is to start preparations for the AFCON qualifiers against Botswana and Zambia.

ZIFA communications manager Xolisani Gwesela revealed that this was done to reduce costs which include travelling, accommodation and allowances. Said Gwesela:

Only 24 players will report for camp for the two matches against Botswana and Zambia. The Warriors technical team is finalising the squad.

Players are expected to start arriving in camp on Monday for the Friday match. The team will leave for Zambia on Sunday, the 17th for the match on Tuesday.

Big-name players who played at the 2019 AFCON finals in Egypt are expected to be in the squad to face the Zebras and Chipolopolo in four days.

These include Marvellous Nakamba, Ovidy Karuru, Tino Kadewere, Khama Billiat, Knox Mutizwa, Marshall Munetsi, Teenage Hadebe, Alec Mudimu, Ronald Pfumbidzai, Devine Lunga, Thabani Kamusoko and two goalkeepers Elvis Chipezeze and Simba Chinani.
