Zimbabwe Coronavirus / COVID-19 Update: 21 March 2022

Zimbabwe first recorded Coronavirus cases in March 2020. Since then, thousands of people have been diagnosed with respiratory disease, thousands have died and also thousands have recovered. Pindula News presents an update issued by the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) on 21 March 2022:

• 166 New Cases (All local) and 2 Deaths reported today. (7-day rolling average* for new cases falls to 253 from 286 (yesterday).

• Vaccination Update: 13 662 received the 1st dose today bringing cumulative for 1st dose to 4 428 726, 2 101 received their 2nd dose bringing cumulative for 2nd dose to 3 443 832 while 3 661 received their 3rd dose bringing cumulative for 3rd dose to 181 798.

• Today we are happy to report a 31% increase on the 1st Dose after the launch of the vaccination blitz as we aim to reach a 70% vaccination coverage by Mid-year 2022.

As of 20 March 2022, @1500hrs there were (35) hospitalized cases: New Admissions (4), Asymptomatic (5), mild to moderate (24), severe (6) and (0) in Intensive Care Units. 8 of the 35 hospitalized were vaccinated and 27 were not vaccinated.

• 2 745 tests done today Positivity today was 6.1 %)

348 new recoveries: National Recovery rate remains at 96% & Active cases go down 4 361.

• As of today, Zimbabwe has recorded 244 685 Cases 234 895 recoveries & 3 429 Deaths.
