Job Description

Applicants are invited from suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the vacant post that has arisen in the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission.

Reports To: Director Education, Promotion And Advocacy Head Office.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop policies and procedures for the Education Promotion Research and Advocacy (EPRA Department).
  • Assist the Director in planning, developing and implementing appropriate education and promotion strategies to raise knowledge and awareness about human rights.
  • Review training and assessment tools for the EPRA Department as and when necessary.
  • Assist the Director in the preparation, implementation and monitoring of the departmental work plan.
  • Develop, implement and track budgets for the EPRA Department.
  • Develop and review concept notes for various EPRAprogramme activities.
  • Lead teams in conducting education and promotion activities.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement meetings in liaison with the Director.
  • Coordinate the development and updating of IEC material. Represent the Commission.
  • Track implementation of recommendations from EPRA reports.
  • Consolidates monthly, quarterly and annual EPA departmental reports.
  • Coordinate activities for Thematic Working Groups led by the Director for EPRA.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor of Education degree (Honours), Bachelor of Social Science degree, Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of laws (honours) degree or any relevant qualification from an accredited tertiary institution.
  • A relevant Master's qualification is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in Human rights work.
  • Good report writing, oral and written communication skills Proficient in oral presentation skills.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability and tenacity to work with Government and other stakeholders.
  • Must be a person of high integrity, professionalism, assertiveness and innovation.
