There have been calls on social media to boycott or cancel Kenya Airways after a Zimbabwean woman shared her negative experiences with the airline. The woman, named Fadzi, reported that she had received poor service from the airline on two separate occasions. She mentioned that her baggage was delayed and arrived damaged, with some items missing, including an AirTag that was still at the airport in Harare. Fadzi expressed her disappointment and suggested that people should choose another airline instead of Kenya Airways. In a post seen by Pindula News, she said:

I got my bag today, 6 days after I left Hre on @KenyaAirways @KQSupport (Kenya Airways Support) My bag is damaged beyond repair, items are missing including my AirTag which is still at Hre airport. @KenyaAirways calls itself ‘pride of Africa’ but after this experience, they should be ashamed.
I had to beg for my luggage twice. 1st I got to Hre &amp; got my bag after 4 days; back home, I got my bag after 6 days. I implore you to find another airline to use, @KenyaAirways has been nothing but HORRIBLE. If it had been one way I’d have said bad luck. Twice is deliberate.

In response to Fadzi’s tweet, other individuals also shared their own negative experiences with the airline. One Twitter user mentioned using Ethiopian Airlines instead, highlighting their positive experience with the alternative carrier. Several users expressed their dissatisfaction with Kenya Airways, mentioning flight delays, poor communication, and lost luggage as common issues they had encountered. Some individuals vowed never to use the airline again. Some even called it Mushika-shika, a term used in Zimbabwe to refer to an informal public transportation system. 
One person recalled a distressing experience involving both Kenya Airways and Dnata in Dubai, which led to financial losses. Another user claimed that their return flight to Melbourne was canceled by Kenya Airways, and they were still waiting for a refund. The sentiment on social media seemed to be overwhelmingly negative towards the airline, with many users sharing their disappointment and frustration.
Some Twitter users recommended considering other airlines, such as KLM or Ethiopian Airlines, as more reliable alternatives to Kenya Airways. They cited reasons such as better customer service, convenient loyalty programs, and a history of consistent performance.

There are reports that Zimbabwe Airways two planes have been put on sale for $12, 5 million each.
This follows reports that the Special Anti-Corruption unit in the Office of the President and Cabinet is expected to visit Malaysia to ascertain the nature of the plane acquisition transaction and the prices which are believed to have been inflated. The two Boeing 777 aeroplanes acquired by Zimbabwe Airways for the government were not delivered.
Zim Morning Post reports one of the planes B722 (9MMRL) is currently at Kansas Airport in the United States under the custody of Jet Midwest a company that repairs and buys planes from Africa.

Zim Airways Planes Put On Sale For $12,5 Million Each

The first Zimbabwe Airways Boeing B777, with the registration number Z-RGM  arrived in the country on Wednesday. The plane is one of four planes which were purchased from Malaysian Airlines, which decommissioned the planes following the disappearance of two successive Boeing 777s flights including the MH370 flight.
President Emmerson Mnangagw<a href="https://news.pindula.co.zw/2018/04/06/mnangagwa-orders-zim-airways-plans-to-be-brought-home-orders-investigation-into-deal/" rel="noopener" target="_blank">a ordered the planes to be brought into the country</a> after they were purchased using taxpayer funds. However, the ownership of Zimbabwe Airlines is murky and Mnangagwa is reported to have ordered an investigation to look into who owns the company.
Officiating at the delivery event Minister of Finance and Economic Planning Patrick Chinamasa addressed the ownership question. Chinamasa said that the plane belongs to the Republic of Zimbabwe and categorically stated that it did not belong to the former first family. The minister also revealed that three more planes are expected to be delivered in a deal worth $70 million although the government has only managed to pay for two planes so far. <blockquote>JOINT PRESS STATEMENT ON THE ACQUISITION OF AIRCRAFTS
1. In October 2016, Al Zimbabwe approached the State Procurement Board (SPB) to seek authority for the purchase of 4 x Boeing 777 second-hand aircrafts(sic) from Malaysia.
2. In November 2016, the SPB under BPR 1067B, approved Air Zimbabwe’s request to purchase the four Boeing 777 planes from Malaysia.
3. Government, through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development, took a decision to secure funding for the procurement of the four planes together with the eight Embraer aircrafts (sic) which would be used as feeder planes.
4. To date, Government has arranged funding to procure 2 x Boeing 777 planes and one Ambraer (sic) plane under a Special Purpose Vehicle called the Zimbabwe Aviation Leasing Company. The 2 X Boeing 777 planes will be delivered on Wednesday, 11 March 2018 (sic).
5. Government also took a decision to lease the planes to third parties up to such a time as Air Zimbabwe develops a credible business plan to run the planes on a sustainable profitable basis.
6. Accordingly, Government decided to lease the planes to a new aircraft firm called Zimbabwe Airways which has already put in place credible plans for the said planes.

Chinamasa also thanked former President Robert Mugabe’s son-in-law Simba Chikore for assisting the government in purchasing the planes due to his expertise.  Simba was one of the pilots who flew the plane.

Zim Airways Plane Arrives, Chinamasa Says It Does Not Belong To Former First Family

News reaching us is the South Africa has grounded all Zimbabwean planes and that Zimbabwe is expected to do the same today.

South African civil aviation says Air Zimbabwe does not have a “foreign operators permit”. President Robert Mugabe landed at Waterkloof military airbase in South Africa on Wednesday in the same B767 that was grounded yesterday by South Africa’s civil aviation. It is not clear at this time if this Air Zimbabwe ban will affect President Robert Mugabe’s UM1 which is technically a charter operated by Air Zimbabwe.
