Phillip Chiyangwa's school shuts down after mass exodus last year
Businessman Phillip Chiyangwa’s institution, Divaris Makaharis Senior School has been closed down due to operational challenges. The school which is located in Bluffhill suburb in Harare did not reopen for the year’s first term. It is reported that there was a mass exodus of pupils and teachers last year such that when schools closed for the December holiday, the school only had 6 pupils and 8 teachers.
The few students who returned this year were advised to seek places elsewhere as the school was closing. However, the junior school is still open and seems to be functioning well. Both schools target high net worth individuals with school fees of $1 200 per term for day scholars.
Officials from the school were unreachable or unresponsive. Chiyangwa himself was furious when questioned and said:
How do you feel when bad things are said about you? What interests do you have in my business and how I run my things? Answer me.
Are you a shareholder? If I move my bed from this corner to that corner in my house, how does that affect you?
