Standards Association of Zimbabwe warns consumers against buying bottled water
The Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ) has warned consumers not to purchase bottled water unless the water has a seal between the water container and the lid as well as a SAZ mark of certification.
This follows the proliferation of water bottling companies, some of which may be unsafe. SAZ stressed that in the absence of a seal and SAZ approval, the bottled water may be untested.
SAZ acting director general Mr Cyril Siringwani said:
Any water that is fit for human consumption should have a seal and a SAZ approval mark. If it doesn’t have that, consumers should be careful.
There is unsafe bottled water, which has not been tested by SAZ on the market. So a seal makes it easy for consumers to see if the bottle has been tampered with.
