The Zimbabwe National Water Authority (Zinwa) has embarked on a water disconnection exercise to recover close to $150 million it is owed by various clients among them; Government departments, parastatals, local authorities such as Beitbridge and Gwanda Town Councils, domestic users and mines. As of December 31, Zinwa was owed  $146 117 812.

Zinwa public relations and marketing manager Mrs Marjory Munyonga said that the water regulating authority will disconnect water for all clients with outstanding payments as well as those that had not honoured payment plans they entered with Zinwa. She also said that they will consider going the legal route as well as to continuously engage owing clients.
