Kirsty Coventry elected Vice President of ZOC
Swimming legend Kirsty Coventry was voted as one of the two vice-presidents of the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) yesterday. Kirsty managed an impressive 38 of the 42 votes cast. She replaced Sibusisiwe Chindove who was not up for re-election.
Speaking after her election victory Kirsty said:
The first thing we need to do is to sit down as the new board and ensure we are on the same page. We need to put in a long-term plan, we tend to change every three-four years after every Olympic and looking at the more established countries they tend to have an obvious plan. As much as we want to focus on 2020 Olympics, we also need to start looking at 2024 and see how we can support our athletes and their federations.
